The cookie banner, done right

CookieMi asks for, records and proves the cookie consent of the people who visit your site. You paste one line of code: we take care of the rest.

  • No CDN and no external font in your page
The basics

What a cookie banner is and why you need one

It is the consent request that appears when someone arrives on your site. Its job is to ask permission before activating cookies and similar technologies that are not strictly necessary: analytics, remarketing, embedded videos, maps, social widgets.

The GDPR and the ePrivacy directive require that consent to be collected before the scripts run, not after. Until the visitor has chosen, everything that is not essential stays put. Technical cookies — the ones the site cannot work without — do not require consent, but must still be described in the policy.

Freely given

Refusing must cost as much as accepting: same prominence, same number of clicks. Nobody who says no is denied access.

Specific

The choice is made by purpose — analytics, marketing, preferences — and not with a single switch that turns everything on.

Informed

Before deciding, the visitor must understand what is collected and for what purpose, with a link to the full policy.

Revocable

Changing your mind must be as easy as giving consent: the preferences panel can be reopened at any time.

And if there is no banner?

Without a valid consent request, non-essential cookies are installed with no legal basis: the processing can be challenged and the Italian DPA can order it suspended, with the penalties provided for by the GDPR. There is a practical problem too: in the event of a complaint, without a log you have no way of proving what the visitor actually accepted, and when.

This is general information on how online consent works, not legal advice. For your specific situation, ask a professional.
In three steps

How it works

From the panel to your site in minutes: nothing to install, nothing to configure on your server, no developer to call.

1

Register the site

Add the domain in the panel and choose languages, colours, position and consent categories. CookieMi generates a key dedicated to that site.

2

Paste one line of code

One <script> in the page, ideally inside <head>. There is nothing else to add: the banner loads no libraries, no fonts and no third-party services.

3

Collect and prove consent

Every choice ends up in the log with its date and time, accepted categories, page and language. When you need it, you export the lot as CSV.

The line to paste

You will find your site key in the Installation tab of the panel, with a button that copies the line ready to use.

What CookieMi does

Features

Only what the product actually does today.

Banner in 33 European languages

The text follows the browser language of whoever visits the site, with automatic detection and a fallback language of your choosing.

Google Consent Mode v2

Google's consent signals — analytics_storage, ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization — are set before and updated after the choice.

Consent log with CSV export

Every consent is saved with its date and time, action, accepted categories, page and language. The CSV export is ready to be filed.

One script, one site

Each key only works on the domain it is associated with: if the script ends up somewhere else the banner does not start and consents are not recorded.

Full customization

Colours, banner position, reopening icon, texts and consent categories are all configured from the panel, with a preview, without touching the site's CSS.

Does not block browsing

The banner asks for consent without dimming the page and without preventing reading: whoever arrives can choose straight away or carry on and decide later.

Cookie inventory and scanner

Record the name, provider, category, purpose and duration of every cookie. The scanner opens up to 12 pages of the registered domain only and compares them against more than 80 known services. It is a server-side scan: it does not run JavaScript, so cookies written after load have to be detected from the browser or added by hand.

Generated policies

Cookie policy and privacy policy in Italian and English, built from the controller's details and from the inventory, editable before you publish them at a public address. They are templates to be reviewed by a lawyer: CookieMi does not provide legal advice.

Script blocking before consent

The tags you mark with data-cookiemi do not start until the category is accepted, and blocked iframes show a placeholder with a button that unblocks that content only.

Pricing

One price, and everything is in it

There are no packages to compare: there is one CookieMi, with every feature. Choose whether to pay for it every month or once a year.

Every month

€3.99

a month, for one site.

You pay one month at a time. You can cancel whenever you want, with a button in the panel.

Once a year

€39.90

a year, for one site.

2 months free

Pay for the whole year and you spend what 10 months cost: the other 2 are free.

Your price is locked in forever. The price on the day you subscribe is the price you will always pay. If CookieMi costs more one day, your subscription does not change: we never move you onto a new price list.

14 days free to try. To start the trial we ask for a card, but during those 14 days we charge you nothing. If you cancel before the end, you pay nothing. The first charge comes when the trial ends, and only if you have not canceled.

Why it matters

The practical value, beyond the rule

Proof, not recollection

The log keeps every choice with its date and time. If someone objects, you have a document to export instead of a reconstruction from memory.

Works with what you already use

With Consent Mode v2 and the dataLayer, Google Tag Manager and the other tags read the consent state and behave accordingly.

Does not drive visitors away

The banner puts no wall in front of the content and does not block page scrolling: the request stays visible, reading continues. The preferences panel, which the visitor opens on purpose, does behave like a dialog.

Where the data is, and whose it is

  • The data is on CookieMi's servers, in Unione Europea
  • The consent log is yours: export it as CSV whenever you want
  • IP addresses are never kept in the clear, only as a code
  • No CDN and no external font ever enters your visitor's page
  • The banner makes no requests to any service other than CookieMi
Frequently asked questions

The questions we ask ourselves too

If the site only uses technical cookies — session, cart, language preference — consent is not required, but the policy is. As soon as advertising, embedded videos or third-party widgets come into play, prior consent is needed. For analytics it depends on the tool: the Italian DPA treats as technical only first-party analytics, with anonymised IP, no cross-site matching and no sharing with third parties. In practice almost every site falls into the case where consent is needed.

No. You have to paste one line of code into your site: in the panel there is a button to copy it, and instructions for WordPress and Shopify. If somebody else built your site, we write the email for you to forward to them. Then a button checks for you that the line ended up where it should.

The banner on your site keeps working, forever: your visitors notice nothing and the consents you have already collected stay where they are. After a week only the panel locks, and becomes read-only: you can no longer make changes or add sites, but you can still look at everything and download your data. Start paying again and everything goes back to the way it was.

Yes, on your own and at any time, with a button in the panel. There is no minimum term and you do not have to write to anyone. You keep using CookieMi until the end of the period you have already paid for.

On CookieMi's servers, which are in Unione Europea. No IP address is ever written to the consent log in the clear: what goes in is a non-reversible code. The log stays yours, and you can download it as CSV whenever you want. What remains is the server's technical log, the one every website keeps in order to work and to protect itself from abuse: the address the request came from is in there, and we keep it for the period stated in our privacy policy.

€3.99 a month or €39.90 a year, for one site. The first 14 days are free.

These are the ones the site cannot work without: keeping the session, remembering the contents of the cart, storing the choice made on the banner itself. They do not require consent and, in CookieMi, they stay always on and cannot be switched off by the visitor.

The scripts of the refused categories are not activated and the Consent Mode signals stay on denied. The site keeps working normally: refusing does not take access away from anything. A refusal is logged too, so the choice leaves a trace.

The banner is a single JavaScript file served by CookieMi. It loads no libraries, downloads no fonts and calls no other service: for the people who visit your site it is one request. It goes first, before the other tags, so the starting consent values are already in place when they arrive.

Yes. CookieMi sets the default values of Google Consent Mode v2 before the tags start and updates them when the visitor chooses; the event also ends up in the dataLayer, so you can use it as a trigger in Google Tag Manager.

Yes: title, description, button labels, category names and explanations can all be edited from the panel, language by language. The translations provided stay as a base, your rewrites take precedence.

CookieMi gives you the tools to collect consent that is freely given, specific, informed and revocable, and to keep the proof of it. Compliance, however, also depends on how you configure the banner, which scripts you enable and what you write in the policy: no tool can guarantee it on your behalf.
